Awards Season for Squares, too!

Whoa whoa whoa! This post is the lovechild of the celeb squares feature and the book it feature! Holy cow, we just keep handing it to ourselves!

Anyhoo, not just actors and their cohorts get awards this season. Books do too! Winner of the 2009 Newbery Medal is square favorite Neil Gaiman with a book about ghosts. Aboust time! I personally hope this will start off a big resurgence in ghosts' popularity among the general public. Here's a full list of the winners straight from the American Library Association's site. Also exciting in the mix is that book about Tupac. Any children's book which makes "California Love" pop in my head is tops to me.

FYI, the Newbery Medal is presented each year for "the most distinguished" American children's book. Previous winners include big favorites The Twenty-One Balloons, From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler, and The Westing Game.
